Privacy Notice for California Residents

This California Privacy Rights Addendum supplements the IHM Holdings Privacy Policy and applies to residents of California. It describes how International Healthcare Media, LLC ("IHM," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information of California residents, and the rights you have under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA/CPRA," Cal. Civ. Code §§ 1798.100–1798.199.100).

Scope

This notice applies to you if you are a natural person who resides in the State of California ("consumer" or "you"). It covers personal information we collect through our websites, services, events, and offline interactions. It does not apply to:

  • Personal information collected in the employment or job-applicant context (which is subject to a separate notice)
  • Personal information subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), to the extent those exemptions apply
  • De-identified or aggregated consumer information

Categories of Personal Information We Collect

In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information from California consumers:

  • A. Identifiers (Collected: Yes) — Name, email address, postal address, phone number, NPI number, IP address, device identifiers, account login
  • B. Personal Information (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) (Collected: Yes) — Name, address, telephone number, professional credentials
  • C. Protected Classification Characteristics (Collected: No) — We do not intentionally collect data in this category
  • D. Commercial Information (Collected: Yes) — Subscription history, event registrations, products or services considered, purchasing tendencies
  • E. Biometric Information (Collected: No) — We do not collect biometric data
  • F. Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity (Collected: Yes) — Browsing history on our sites, search history, interactions with our websites, emails, and ads; browser type, device info, referring URLs
  • G. Geolocation Data (Collected: Yes) — Approximate location derived from IP address (city/region level)
  • H. Sensory Data (Collected: No) — We do not collect audio, visual, or similar data
  • I. Professional or Employment-Related Information (Collected: Yes) — Job title, specialty, employer, professional credentials, practice type, NPI number
  • J. Non-Public Education Information (Collected: No) — N/A
  • K. Inferences (Collected: Yes) — Professional interests, content preferences, audience segments derived from browsing behavior and engagement
  • L. Sensitive Personal Information (Collected: Yes, limited) — Account login credentials; health-related inferences derived from content engagement (see Sensitive Personal Information section below)

Sources of Personal Information

We collect the categories of personal information listed above from the following sources:

  • Directly from you: When you register, subscribe, attend events, complete surveys, or contact us
  • Automatically: Through cookies, pixels, web beacons, and other tracking technologies when you visit our websites
  • From third parties: Data partners, the DMD Healthcare Communications Network, publicly available professional databases, advertising partners, and event co-sponsors

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following business and commercial purposes:

  • Providing, maintaining, and improving our websites and services
  • Processing registrations and managing accounts
  • Sending publications, newsletters, and educational content
  • Marketing and advertising, including targeted and cross-context behavioral advertising
  • Creating audience segments for advertisers and sponsors
  • Analytics and website optimization
  • Detecting and preventing fraud and security incidents
  • Complying with legal obligations
  • Facilitating corporate transactions

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

IHM sells and shares personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. In the preceding 12 months, we have sold or shared the following categories of personal information with third parties (including advertisers, sponsors, marketing partners, and the DMD Healthcare Communications Network):

  • Inferences (K) — Shared with: Advertisers, sponsors, marketing partners

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under the age of 16.

Sensitive Personal Information

As a healthcare media company, IHM may process certain information that qualifies as "sensitive personal information" under the CPRA:

  • Account login credentials: Usernames and passwords used to access your account
  • Health-related data: Content engagement and browsing behavior on our healthcare-focused websites may reveal health-related interests. Under the CPRA, health information is a category of sensitive personal information.

We use sensitive personal information only for the purposes authorized by the CPRA, including providing the services you requested, ensuring security and integrity, and short-term transient use. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted by the CPRA, and we do not sell or share sensitive personal information.

You have the right to limit our use of your sensitive personal information. See "Your Rights" below.

Data Retention

We retain each category of personal information for the period reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described above, provide our services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. For specific retention periods, please see the Data Retention section of our main Privacy Policy.

Your Rights Under the CCPA/CPRA

As a California resident, you have the following rights:

Right to Know

You have the right to request that we disclose:

  • The categories of personal information we have collected about you
  • The categories of sources from which we collected the information
  • The business or commercial purposes for collecting, selling, or sharing the information
  • The categories of third parties to whom we disclose, sell, or share the information
  • The specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you

Right to Delete

You have the right to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions under the CCPA/CPRA (for example, where the information is necessary to complete a transaction, detect security incidents, or comply with a legal obligation).

Right to Correct

You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you, taking into account the nature and purposes of the processing.

Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing

You have the right to direct us to stop selling or sharing your personal information with third parties. To exercise this right:

Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information

You have the right to direct us to limit our use and disclosure of your sensitive personal information to only those purposes necessary to provide the services you have requested, or as otherwise authorized by the CPRA.

Right to Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights. We will not deny you goods or services, charge different prices, provide a different quality of service, or suggest that you may receive a different price or quality of service because you exercised your rights.

How to Submit a Request

You or your authorized agent may submit a request to exercise your rights using any of the following methods:

You may make a verifiable consumer request to know or delete up to two (2) times within a 12-month period.

Verification Process

To protect your privacy and security, we will take steps to verify your identity before responding to your request. Verification may include:

  • Confirming your email address, name, or other information we have on file
  • Requesting additional information to match against our records
  • For requests for specific pieces of personal information, we may require a signed declaration under penalty of perjury confirming your identity

If we cannot verify your identity, we may not be able to fulfill your request.

Authorized Agents

You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. If an authorized agent submits a request, we may require:

  • Proof that you have provided the agent with written, signed permission to act on your behalf
  • Verification of the agent's identity
  • Direct confirmation from you that you authorized the agent to act on your behalf (unless the agent has a power of attorney under Probate Code §§ 4000–4465)

California AB 45 — Healthcare Facility Geofencing Prohibition

In compliance with California Assembly Bill 45, which became effective January 1, 2026, IHM does not:

  • Establish a geofence within 2,000 feet of a healthcare facility for the purpose of collecting personal information, identifying, or sending notifications, messages, or advertisements to consumers at or near the facility
  • Collect personal information from consumers at or near a healthcare facility for the purpose of delivering advertising related to health conditions, treatments, or providers

"Healthcare facility" includes hospitals, medical offices, mental health facilities, reproductive health clinics, substance abuse treatment centers, and other facilities as defined under AB 45.

Financial Incentive Programs

From time to time, we may offer programs (such as newsletters, loyalty programs, or sweepstakes) where you receive content or other benefits in exchange for providing personal information. Participation in any such program is voluntary, and you may opt out at any time. The value of the personal information collected is reasonably related to the overall value of the benefit offered. Contact us for details about any active financial incentive programs.

Metrics

As required by the CPRA, we will compile and disclose annual metrics regarding consumer requests received, complied with, and denied during the previous calendar year. These metrics will be made available by July 1 of each year and will include the number of requests to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing.
